accordingly.

Quarters.

The Head Master's house with the exception

of one room which I use as an office, is occupied by Mr. Curwen

and his family. The arrangement has not in any way so far in-

-terfered with the working of the school.

Attendance.

The number on the rol was 34 with an aver-

-age daily attendance of 30. In my own class I am glad to notice there was not one absence throughout the month. The attendance

for various reasons always falls off at this time of the year,

but I am given to believe that we shall receive a strong re-

-inforcement after the Summer Holidays.

School Hours.

I have, at your suggestion, revived after-

-noon school in the summer term for the bigger boys. The sene boys have petitioned me for Saturday morning school: I intend,

if you have no objection, to try it as an experiment.

Play-ground.

The school is particularly fortunate in the

possession of an excellent natural and constructed play-ground. The latter is not yet ready for use, but the fullest use is

made of the former. To this I attribute largely the very healthy

tone among my pupils. I have not up to now seen a single weep-

-ing complainant.

Discipline.

The discipline is excellent. In the course

of the month I have not been called upon to award a single

punishment. The manners of the pupils can stand some improve-

-mont. I am exerting myself in this direction.

Cadet Corps.

The school conjointly with St. Joseph's

College and the Garrison School boasts of a Cadet Corps. Deills take place here once a week. Iy pupils are enthusiastic over

it. I thoroughly approve of it and am interesting myself in it

although I have no official connection with it. I regret that my means do not permit of my holding Mr. Williams's commission

while I am acting here.
